Become A Powerful Storyteller!
Copy & Line editing for the self-published author.
Hello, writers! Have you finished writing your manuscript? Did you give it to readers and comb through it for a few editing rounds yourself? Perfect! You’re ready for another stage of editing with an experienced professional. It’s important to have a team helping you build your book to perfection!
After developmental editing where you evaluate the big picture, you’re ready to get more technical with copy & line editing. While developmental looks at what’s going on in the story, copy & line focuses on how it’s being told – the structure. Is that the best word choice? Is the grammar correct? Are there too many run-on sentences? Is the meaning clear?
You’ve written an incredible story and you’ve bonded with your characters. When you need to ensure that the readability and technical structure is perfect, hire a professional editor to check every line!
Kirsten McNeill,
Copy & Line Editor
Hi! I’m Kirsten, a writer and editor since 2015 working with fellow indie authors and creatives. I studied Creative Writing in college, and continue to find ways to improve my skills by:
- Attending online courses such as Grammar for Writing Professionals.
- Reading books such as The Positive Trait Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman & Becca Puglisi, Self-Editing For Fiction Writers by Renni Browne and Dave King, and On Writing: A Memoir Of The Craft by Stephen King.
- Joining Facebook groups to connect and gain insight from the writing and reading community.
Working with Kirsten was amazing! She is passionate about writing, and it comes through in her editing. She was flexible, thorough, insightful, and respected my deadlines. She is a talented professional. Kirsten provided with a detailed edit that went beyond the service I hired her for. I highly recommend her to any author looking to create a polished and professional product.

Romance AuthorCopy & Line Editing Packages Available for All Writers and Self-Published Authors
I work with writers to make sure the story they’re telling reads easily – checking consistency of tenses, searching for spelling errors, and more. I also have my own self-published books!
With my copy & line editing package, you will have a trained and careful eye looking into:
- Technical structure (sentence readability, paragraph length, etc.)
- Language (word choice, clarity, tone, style, etc.)
- Grammar & consistency (spelling, typos, punctuation, numerals, etc.)
I love combining these types of editing because they match well together and it’s easy for me to evaluate them at the same time. You will never lose your unique voice and style with my evaluation to ensure that the structure is flawless and those pesky errors are gone.

How Copy & Line Editing Works
When I return a document, it has track changes and comments, and you also receive a quick summary on what I’ve done and liked about your work. Once you’ve had a chance to review, you’re free to ask questions to clarify my comments. If you need help beyond that, we can discuss if more services are needed or just a quick answer.
Being a self-published author and editor, I love helping fellow indie writers bring their book to publication. I’m an avid reader of thriller novels, but I also love urban fantasy and contemporary romance (and always looking to expand). My experience and passion for the work guarantees that I am prepared for the task!
Kirsten is both a professional editor and friend!
I was invited to write a short story for an anthology for the first time. Since it was going to be published, I knew I needed help from a professional. What’s great about Kirsten is she’s my friend before anything else. She was patient, understanding and that made the process easier. She can work both on a planned deadline and even during the times where you need to rush. She made my writing better, and I will definitely use her services for my future releases!
Thank you for making the editing process fun and smooth, Kirsten! Going through my first editing process with a professional was scary. But you made it a great one!
More power to your craft! x
